Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - In a tough battle to keep its winning streak alive, the Gallaudet University women's basketball team eked out a 64-60 victory over Penn State Harrisburg in a United East Conference game this Saturday.
Gallaudet (14-7, 12-2 United East) grabbed the lead early and never looked back en route to its ninth straight win. GU led 25-13 over Penn State Harrisburg (14-8, 9-5 United East) after the first 10 minutes of play and took a 32-24 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the host Lions outscored the Bison, 19-15, in the third quarter as GU led 47-43. Both teams scored 17 points each in the fourth and final quarter.
The Bison received a double-double from sophomore forward Malia Zornoza (Riverside, Calif.) with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) tallied 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Freshman guard Crystal Salit (Boyds, Md.) added 12 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) passed out a game-high 10 assists to go with seven points, seven rebounds and four steals. Sophomore forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) poured in eight points and snatched seven rebounds and swatted away a game-high four blocks. Freshman forward Hannah Puent (Indianapolis, Ind.) came off the bench to record 10 points, eight rebounds and one block.
The Lions were led by guard Anna Mahan with 26 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and three assists.
