Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. - A huge comeback victory for the Gallaudet University women's basketball team took place here Saturday on the road at Lancaster Bible College as the Bison won the game at the free-throw line in the final minutes to capture the 75-72 United East Conference win.
The victory is the 100th career win for Gallaudet University women's basketball head coach Stephanie Stevens, who is in her ninth season leading the Bison program. Coach Stevens is now 100-122 overall since the 2012-13 season.
Gallaudet (7-7, 5-2 United East) trailed for over 38 minutes before sophomore guard Malia Zornoza (Riverside, Calif.) sank two free throws to give the Bison their first lead of the day, 71-70. GU went on to make four more free throws to earn its fifth conference win of the season.
Sophomore forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the Bison with 24 points, six rebounds, two assists and one block. Senior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) tallied 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals while Zornoza finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, three steals and one assist. Sophomore guard Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) was the fourth Bison in double figures with 12 points, four steals, three rebounds and one assist.
Sophomore guard Jenna Dombach led the Chargers (7-9, 4-3 United East) with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds while teammate Jade Eshelman finished with eight points and a game-high 19 rebounds. LBC led 36-32 at the half.
