Box Score WASHINGTON - Gallaudet University scored its biggest win of the 2021-22 women's basketball season so far here Saturday afternoon with a 69-45 victory over United East Conference foe SUNY Morrisville in the Field House.
Gallaudet (5-6, 3-1 United East) moves up the conference standings to third place after its largest win over the Mustangs since the 2012-13 season (62-37).
The Bison shot a season best 63.6 percent from 3-point range as they made 7 of 11 shots from behind the arc. Freshman guard Crystal Salit (Boyds, Md.) led the way with a career-high 17 points as she made 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range.
Sophomore forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) tallied a double-double with 12 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Perry led the team with three blocked shots and steals and added five assists. Senior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) passed out a game-high 10 assists and ripped down eight boards and scored six points. Sophomore Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) came off the bench to score 11 points and make a game-high five steals.
GU led 14-5 after the first quarter and took a 33-18 lead into halftime. The Bison outscored the Mustangs 36-27 in the second half.
SUNY Morrisville (7-6, 3-2 United East) was led by guard Carli Pardee's 18-point performance as she made three of her team-high six 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs made 5 of 10 long-range shots in the fourth quarter.
BISON TRACKS
- Freshman forward Hannah Puent (Indianapolis, Ind.) returned to the court after a month away and accumulated nine points and three rebounds
- Sophomore guard/forward Malia Zornoza (Riverside, Calif.) recorded eight points and three boards off the bench
- GU's bench added 30 points as the Bison scored 22 points off turnovers and tallied 36 points in the paint
- The Bison led for over 36 minutes against the Mustangs
- Gallaudet is 7-5 against SUNY Morrisville dating back to the 2010-11 season, its first in the United East Conference (formerly known as the North Eastern Athletic Conference)
- The Bison have won three straight over the Mustangs
- GU is 4-1 in the Field House against SUNY Morrisville
