GU upended on the road at LBC

LANCASTER, Pa. - It was a close North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's basketball game that Gallaudet University allowed to slip through its hands here Saturday night at Lancaster Bible College. Gallaudet (7-12, 5-6 NEAC) saw its nine-point lead vanish as Lancaster Bible (9-11, 7-4 NEAC) took over the game in the fourth quarter en route to a 63-56 win.

The two teams played a close first half where GU held a slim 32-31 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, GU scored 14 of the first 21 points and led 46-37 with four minutes left. LBC scored the next nine points to knot the game at 46.

The host Chargers took the lead in the fourth quarter before the Bison tied the game at 54 all with 2:12 left in regulation. LBC outscored Gallaudet, 9-2, down the stretch to secure the victory.

Four different Bison finished the game in double figures. Freshman forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led the way with a double-double as she recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds to go with six assists before she fouled out in 28 minutes played. Freshman guard Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) had a team-high 13 points while freshman Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) and junior guard Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Hudson grabbed seven rebounds while Schmidjorg passed out five assists and made three steals. Junior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) was held in check with eight points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. 

LBC senior guard Caitlin Hickey led all-scorers with 25 points while junior guard Lizzy Tilton and freshman guard Adalyn Steiner chipped in 14 points each in the win.
