Three Bison reach double-digits against the Express

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team fell, 62-52, here Saturday afternoon to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Wells College in the Field House. GU participated in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) annual "Play4Kay" initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer research.

Early in the third quarter, Gallaudet trailed the Express by 18 points, 44-26. The Bison (2-20, 2-16 NEAC South) battled back to cut the lead to nine points, 45-36, after holding Wells (8-11, 7-7 NEAC North) to only six points in third quarter.

However, Gallaudet was unable to contain the Express in the fourth quarter as Wells cruised to victory. 

Junior forward Kelsey Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) led the Bison with 18 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. She also added one steal, one block and one assist. Junior forward Lawjen Ashmore (Fairbanks, Alaska) added 12 points, two blocks and two steals in the loss.

The Express were led by Ashida Cooper's 36-point performance as she grabbed eight rebounds, five assist and four steals.

The Bison wore Pink on Saturday as they participated in "Play4Kay," an initiative to raise awareness for breast cancer research. All proceeds from the game will be donated to breast cancer research.

UP NEXT
The Bison will return to the court tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 12) at noon for their final home game of the season as they host Keuka College (11-9, 8-7 NEAC North).
