Box Score ABINGTON, Pa. – Gallaudet University and
Penn St.-Abington finally tipped off its North Eastern Athletic
Conference South Division game this evening after several delays,
due to the snow, pushed the start time back four hours. In the end,
the host Nittany Lions came away with a 48-28 victory over the
Bison at the Abington Athletic Building.
Gallaudet (2-5, 1-2 NEAC South) cut the Nittany Lion lead to
one, 9-8, midway through the first half after junior Danielle
Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) netted two of her nine
points off the bench. Penn St.-Abington (5-1, 2-0 NEAC South
Division) then went on an 18-4 run, in 10 minutes, to close out the
first half up 27-12.
Junior Zamica Gage
(Washington, D.C.) netted seven of her game-high 13 points in the
second half but it wasn't enough to bring the Bison back. Morris
followed with nine points and seven rebounds while senior
Lane
Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) matched Morris with seven
rebounds. Junior guard Danielle
Warren (San Jose, Calif.) added six points in the
loss.
The Nittany Lions had three players in double figures led by
Janaiah Elum and Kyra Lunaford, who scored 11 points each. Jessica
Schmidt added 10 points and eight rebounds as Penn St.-Abington won
its third straight game.
The two teams were held to their lowest point totals and field
goals made for the season. GU shot 24.4 percent from the field (11
of 45) while Penn St.-Abington made 40.9 percent (18 of 44). The
Nittany Lions scored 20 points off 22 Bison turnovers and made 6 of
17 shots from three-point range while GU went 0-for-8 from long
range.
GU returns home to host Bryn Athyn College (1-5, 0-1 NEAC South)
on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m.
