Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team remains the lone North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) program to be undefeated this late in the 2010-11 season as the Bison won their eighth straight game with a 76-66 victory on the road Saturday against Penn St.-Harrisburg. GU (8-0, 5-0 NEAC) is one of two NEAC teams to be undefeated in the conference standings tied with SUNYIT (6-1, 5-0).
All-American senior forward/center Easter Faafiti (Pittsburg, Calif.) led the Bison offense with 25 points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Fellow senior Nukeitra Hayes (Anderson, Ind.) netted nine points to go with a game-high 16 rebounds, five blocks and three steals. Sophomore guard Shaquana McDonough (Pembroke, Mass.) scored 14 points while freshmen Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) and Zamica Gage (Washington, D.C.) chipped in 11 and 12 points, respectively.
The lead changed hands several times in the first half but Gallaudet took control in the waning minutes before intermission. Gage made a basket to give the Bison a 26-24 lead at the 1:25 mark. The bucket ended the fourth tie of the game. Hayes added a basket 10 seconds later as Gallaudet took 28-24 lead into halftime. GU led from start to finish in the second half.
Penn St.-Harrisburg (4-4, 3-2) was led by Daril Foose's 18 points and five rebounds. GU shot 52.8 percent from the field and netted 50 points in the paint in the victory.
Gallaudet will close out the first half of its 2010-11 season next Sunday, December 19, on the road against conference foe Penn St.-Berks. The game is slated to tip at 3 p.m.
