Box Score Gallaudet came to play today and jumped to a quick 8-2 lead
against Salisbury, but was unable to keep the pace for 40 minutes,
and were defeated 68-45.
After Gallaudet took the 8-3 lead at the five minute mark of the
first half, Salisbury went on a 24-5 run to end the half, and go up
26-13, and Gallaudet was never able to make it close in the second
half, despite the efforts of Nukeitra Hayes, Brittainy
Payne, and Ursa Rewolinski.
Hayes had another brilliant all-around game scoring 17 points,
grabbing 8 rebounds, blocking 5 shots, and making 3 steals.
Payne scored 11 points and had 7 rebounds and Rewolinski had 11
rebounds.
After the game, Gallaudet
Head Coach Kevin Cook said there were two main reasons for the
loss today. "Today we did not execute on the offensive end
and at times Salisbury out hustled us." But Coach Cook also
promised Bison fans that the team will continue to practice and
play hard the rest of the season. "We will continue to work
at improving all phases of our game, but the reality is that
opportunities continue to slip away."
With the loss, Gallaudet is 4-9 this year. Salisbury is
2-13. Gallaudet will have just one day off, before they
travel to Southern Maryland to face St. Mary's College Monday at 12
pm. This game was moved up from it's original 6 pm start time
due to road closures into Washington DC, Monday night.
