18th Ranked Mary Washington Defeats Gallaudet 78-42

Gallaudet faced the toughest team on their schedule tonight when they played the nation's 18th ranked team, Mary Washington College, and it was a tough game for the Bison, as Mary Washington came out on top 78-42.

The game was never close as Mary Washington jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Ursa Rewolinski scored the first Gallaudet basket on a jump shot. Mary Washington controlled the rest of the half, which ended 44-21. The second half was also dominated by Mary Washington, as Gallaudet was not able to do much against the tough defense they faced tonight.  Gallaudet finished the night shooting 15-49 from the floor.

Rewolinski was the only Gallaudet scorer in double figures, finishing with 12 points on 5-10 shooting.  Brittainy Payne led the Bison was 10 rebounds and Rewolinski just missed a double-double, getting 8 rebounds. Nukeitra Hayes scored 9 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and had two blocks.

Gallaudet Head Coach Kevin Cook mentioned the strength of Mary Washington after the game, while also praising his teams' effort.  "Mary Washington is very balanced and is full of good shooters! I thought we fought them hard.  We had as consistent an effort as we have had in some time and we cut our turnovers considerably." Coach Cook wants to see more consistency from his team for 40 minutes.  "If we can get to playing harder for longer stretches, well, then good things are going to happen!"

With the loss, Gallaudet goes to 4-8.  Mary Washington is 11-2.  Gallaudet's next game will be Saturday afternoon at 2 pm at Salisbury University.
