OXFORD, PA--The Bison softball team picked up a pair of strong
wins in 26-1 and 24-4 decisions against Lincoln University despite
40-mile-per-hour wind gusts.
Gallaudet opened with an eight-run inning in which Caitlin
Mosholder, Casey McCullough, Colleen Caverly, Colleen Tighe all had
RBIs. Alicia Balzer also knocked out a two-run homer, the first of
her career with the Bison.
In the top of the third, the Buff and Blue put together a 10-run
inning off bases on balls and 4 hits. The 17 team hits tied a
previous season high against Wilson College on March 2nd. Over the
second game, the Bison put up 14 hits for a two-game total of 31
hits and 50 runs.
Colleen Tighe struck out nine batters over five innings of work,
allowing only one hit to pick up her second win of the season in
the first game. Game two saw Colleen Caverly work for two innings,
striking out one. Tighe came in to clean up, pitching three innings
and fanning seven for a two-game total of 16 strikeouts.
The Bison (4-3-1, 0-0 CAC) travel to Hood College for the
conference season-opener on Friday March 14. Game one is set to go
at 2:00 p.m. with game two following after.
