LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for March 16 and Gallaudet University senior pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.)
swept the
Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week awards.
Drolsbaugh had a Friday to remember for the Bison last week as the senior pitcher threw 10-innings of scoreless ball, recorded her third no-hitter this season and slammed three home runs as GU rolled over Yeshiva University.
At the plate, Drolsbaugh compiled an eye-popping line of 5-for-5, seven runs scored, 11 RBI, three home runs, one double, three walks and five stolen bases. The Bison swamped the Maccabees 20-0 and 19-0 in the non-conference doubleheader in New Rochelle, N.Y.
In the circle, Drolsbaugh allowed the first batter she faced to bloop a single into right field and from there she kept Yeshiva off the scoreboard for runs and hits. Drolsbaugh combined to strike out 25 batters in 10 innings and recorded her third no-hitter in six days. In the first game, she issued two walks and in the second game she hit one batter and one Bison error allowed the other Yeshiva baserunner to reach. In the second game, she notched her personal best 13 strikeouts in five innings after she had 12 strikeouts in five innings in the first game In the past four games in the circle (March 8 vs. Sarah Lawrence and March 13 vs. Yeshiva) she has logged 20 innings, four wins, 48 strikeouts and one hit and only five walks and two hit batters.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's first United East Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors this season. This is the first United East weekly honor for Drolsbaugh in her softball career.
