Drolsbaugh perfect at the plate on Senior Day as GU completes season

WASHINGTON –  It was a memorable Senior Day for Gallaudet University senior pitcher Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.), who was honored before the game and turned in a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate Sunday at the GU Softball Complex.

Drolsbaugh homered in the first inning, singled to right field in the bottom of the third, and capped her collegiate softball career with a double to right-center field in the fifth inning to complete a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate.

This game was originally scheduled for April 1 but was rescheduled to today due to rain. Notre Dame of Maryland University won the first game of the doubleheader, 8-2 in five innings back on April 1.

Gallaudet fell to Notre Dame (Md.) on Sunday, 15-1, in five innings. The buff and blue finished the 2026 season with a 6-24 overall record and an 0-16 mark in United East play. Notre Dame (Md.) improved to 11-18 overall and 7-9 in conference play, as the Gators clinched a spot in the United East postseason as the No. 8 seed.

The Gators scored two runs in the top of the first inning before Drolsbaugh belted a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Notre Dame (Md.) erupted for 13 hits over the third and fourth innings, as it scored 13 runs during that stretch and never looked back en route to a five-inning, run-rule victory.

Sophomore outfielder Olivia Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) recorded a single in the bottom of the third inning for the Bison's fourth hit of the game.

Drolsbaugh (6-15) took the loss in the circle, as she recorded two strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Drolsbaugh set a career best for strikeouts in a season with 127 and goes down in the record books as GU's all-time strikeout leader with 328. She concludes her four-year career with 335.2 innings pitched, 41 complete games, 15 wins, six shutouts in 73 appearances.

At the plate, Drolsbaugh accumulated 116 hits, 96 runs, 60 RBI, 18 doubles, 18 triples, 10 home runs, 65 stolen bases, 50 walks and posted a .336 batting average in 133 games and 345 at-bats.
