WASHINGTON– It was a tough day at the GU Softball Complex as the Gallaudet softball team opened conference play and dropped a pair of games to Lancaster Bible College, 20-0 and 22-4, in two five-inning contests on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon.
Gallaudet (4-8, 0-2 United East) only had two hits total in both games against Lancaster Bible (9-6, 2-0 United East).
Game 1: Lancaster Bible 20, Gallaudet 0 (F/5 innings)
The Chargers plated 20 runs over the first three innings, including a 13-run third. The Bison committed eight errors on defense as senior
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in the circle, struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings.
First-year
Seanna Baird (Indianapolis, Ind.) made her collegiate debut and broke up Lancaster Bible's Maddison Atkins' no-hit bid in the fifth inning with her first career hit, a single to right field.
Game 2: Lancaster Bible 22, Gallaudet 4 (F/5 innings)
Lancaster Bible erupted for 11 runs on eight hits in the first inning and went on to score three or more runs in four of the five innings.
The Bison capitalized on two Lancaster Bible errors to score four runs. Drolsbaugh recorded the only hit for Gallaudet.
GU's defense committed 12 errors in the field as Drolsbaugh (4-6) took the loss.
