NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University softball team put on a clinic here Friday at Flowers Park as the Bison rolled past Yeshiva University in a non-conference sweep.
GU outscored the Maccabees, 39-0, and senior pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) allowed one hit in 10 innings as she recorded her third no-hitter this season and finished the day with 25 strikeouts. Drolsbaugh helped her own cause as she was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate and drove in 11 runs, scored seven times, hit two home runs, one double and drew three walks.
Sophomore third baseman
Kinsley Bond (Beulaville, N.C.) hit for the cycle in the second game and finished the day 7-for-8 with eight RBI, four runs, two triples, a double and home run.
The Bison won the two five-inning games 20-0 in the first and 19-0 in the second. Gallaudet (4-6) improved its win streak to four consecutive games, the longest since the 2023 season when the Bison won four in a row.
Game 1: Gallaudet 20, Yeshiva 0 (F/5)
Gallaudet jumped out of the gates with 10 runs in the first inning as the Bison batted around. Drolsbaugh's bases clearing double brought in three runs to increase the GU lead to 9-0.
Yeshiva's first batter in the bottom of the first inning was Aliza Feldman and she faced an 0-2 count against Drolsbaugh before hitting the ball to right field. That single was the only hit Drolsbaugh gave up the entire day.
The Bison scored runs in every frame including six in the second inning, which was highlighted by Drolsbaugh's two-run home run.
Gallaudet swiped 25 stolen bases and Yeshiva gave out 20 walks.
The 20 runs scored are the most for Gallaudet since it plated 24 at Wells College on April 29, 2022, in a 24-15 conference win over the Express in five innings.
Drolsbaugh (3-4) finished the game with 12 strikeouts as she faced 21 batters and threw 78 pitches.
Game 2: Gallaudet 19, Yeshiva 0 (F/5)
The Bison picked up where they left off and continued to score at will against the overmatched Yeshiva (0-3) team.
Bond started her quest for the cycle with an RBI triple in the first inning and a three-run double in the second.
Drolsbaugh launched her second home run on the day in the top of the third inning to bring home first year
Sammie Howell (Columbus, Mont.) as Gallaudet led 12-0.
The Bison batters weren't done with slamming homers as Drolsbaugh tallied her second two-run home run in the fifth. Two batters later, Bond completed the cycle with a two-run home run to plate sophomore
Olivia Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.).
Howell drew four walks and scored four times in the second game. The first-year second baseman finished the day with seven walks, seven runs and three stolen bases.
Drolsbaugh (4-4) recorded her third no-hitter in six days after back-to-back no-hitters against Sarah Lawrence College this past Sunday. Drolsbaugh tallied a new career best 13 strikeouts in the second game against Yeshiva. Drolsbaugh faced 17 batters, allowed two baserunners and hit one batter. The Maccabees got one runner on base due to a Bison fielding error in the third inning. Drolsbaugh struck out the side in the fourth and fifth innings to end the game.
GU finished the day with 39 runs scored, which are the most in a doubleheader since the April 29, 2022, doubleheader at Wells where the Bison scored 38 times in 10 innings.
