WASHINGTON,D.C.—The Bison took on McDaniel College's
Green Terror tonight on Think Pink Night as part of the continuing
campaign launched by the Women's Basketball Coaches of
America (WBCA) to support breast cancer. McDaniel won the matchup,
75-46.
Gallaudet focused on minimizing their turnovers and preventing
McDaniel from creating opportunities off lost possessions. Over the
first half, action remained close as the Bison started strong with
a 6-0 run, forcing the visitors to play catch up ball.
Down the stretch, turnovers worked against the Bison, preventing
scoring rallies as McDaniel worked their full court press and took
a 12-point lead to the locker rooms at 35-23.
Three of the Buff and Blue starters finished the night in double
figures. Nukeitra Hayes led the way with 15, Priscilla Biskupiak
added 13 and Brittainy Payne posted a third consecutive
double-double with 10 points and 11 boards.
The second half saw the visitors build their lead off 59% field
goals and steady scoring from between the blocks. The Bison could
not better their first half performance, scoring 23 points in both
halves. McDaniel retained the advantage in the battle of the boards
by one grab, 40 to Gallaudet's 39.
The Bison (3-20, 0-15 CAC) close out the regular season on
Wednesday February 18 as they play host to York College. Tip time
is set for 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 8.
