Gallaudet headed across town to face the Capital Athletic
Conference's defending champion, Marymount University, and despite
their best efforts, went down to defeat 80-42. Marymount is
recognized nationally as the nation's 15th ranked team and is 4-0
on the season.
Gallaudet got double-doubles from Nukeitra Hayes and Ursa
Rewolinski. Hayes scored 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds,
and blocked 5 shots. Rewolinski scored 13 points on 5-7
shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Despite the tough loss, Gallaudet Head Coach Kevin Cook
knows there are a lot more games on the team's schedule to prepare
for. After the game he said, "Marymount is a very talented and
disciplined club. It is easy to see why they are one of the best
teams in the land."
Coach Cook hopes to use today's game to toughen up his team for
the remainder of the schedule. "We will continue to compete
hard. We are confident that we will handle the ball better in
future contests. We will put this one behind us and gear up for
Wesley on Saturday."
On Saturday, Gallaudet plays at Wesley College at 2 p.m. The
Bison are now 3-2 on the season.
