WASHINGTON, DC--The Buff and Blue took on the visiting Cougars
of Chatham College (Pa.) tonight in the final home matchup of 2007.
Chatham prevailed, 67-57.
First half action saw a 31-30 Bison lead, with freshman Nukeitra
Hayes putting up 12 points. The Cougars' Allason Holt paced
the visitors with 9 points.
Over the second half, Chatham jumped ahead on consistent field
goals as the Bison worked to improve on rebounding and overall
shooting. Gallaudet rallied from a 10-point deficit to come as
close as five before the Cougars' perimeter shooting built
the lead. Bison turnovers and missed free throw opportunities
proved to be the catalyst in the loss.
Gallaudet's Priscilla Biskupiak led with a game-high 18
points. Brittainy Payne recorded a double-double, with 14 points
and 17 rebounds. Payne also had 4 blocks. Nukeitra Hayes finished
with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals and an assist.
Cougar Allason Holt had a team-high double-double with 13 points
and 13 rebounds to pace the visitors. Lizz King and Kayla Hilko had
11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bison go on break until January 9th when they host the
University of Mary Washington in a CAC doubleheader. Tip time is
set for 8:00 p.m. following the 6:00 p.m. start of men's
basketball.
