WASHINGTON, D.C. (1/23/07)—The Bison opened strong, going
shot-for-shot with Marymount, keeping the score close for the
better part of the first half before Marymount went on top for good
off a layup by Kathleen Brown. Gallaudet worked hard against
Marymount's full-court press, weaving through passing lanes
before committing costly turnovers that Marymount converted into
baskets. The Bison committed a game-high 30 turnovers in
contrast to Marymount's 14.
The Buff and Blue did not convert any of their four three-point
attempts while Marymount stretched its lead off its five
treys. Both teams stayed in the game with free throws,
Gallaudet shot 66% (12-18) the majority coming from senior guard
Tamijo Foronda (7-11) and her team-high 17 points. However,
Marymount prevailed from the line, going 14-for-20 and a 70%
rating.
During the second half, Brittainy Payne posted 11 of her 16 points
against the 6'1/6'0 Marymount inside players. On
the other side of the ball, Marymount's Terell White pushed
the offense with 9 out of her 13 points. Senior guard Katie
Armentrout topped Marymount's charts with a game-high 18
points and 5 steals. Marymount barely edged Gallaudet in the
steals category, picking off 19 passes to the Buff and Blue's
17.
The Bison (2-13, 0-7 CAC) play host in a break from CAC play
Thursday, January 25th when Hood College (1-13, 1-3 AWCC)
