WASHINGTON, D.C. (1/17/07)--After a shaky first half in which
St. Mary's finished off with a 32-10 run, making the halftime
score 41-17, Gallaudet showed impressive effort in the second half.
However, Seahawk Allie Scott's power and the speed of guard
Stephanie Saint-Aubin proved to be too much in the end as the Lady
Bison suffered their twelfth loss. Scott contributed 17 points on
an array of inside moves and a steady medium range shot. Aubin led
the Hawks' transition offense to the tune of 19 points with
6'1 sophomore post player Kaitlyn Johnson adding 18. On the
Gallaudet side of the ball, senior point guard Pia Marie Paulone
was able to slash her way to nine points in the first half, albeit
being held scoreless in the second half, hobbled by a sore knee.
Senior forward Jessica Salisbury paced the Lady Bison with 10
points, pulling down 6 rebounds. First-year coach Kylan Loney
continues her challenge of turning around the basketball program at
Gallaudet with her ever present optimism.
The women netters travel to nearby Catholic University on
Saturday, January 20th to resume conference play. The
ball goes up at 2:00 p.m.
