LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for March 9 and Gallaudet University sophomore outside hitter
Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) was named the Men's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
Bippus had a big week for the buff and blue as he tallied 70 kills, 34 digs, seven blocks and five aces as GU posted a 2-2 record. Bippus made a career-high 25 kills in a five-set win at Cairn University last Thursday. Earlier in the week he had a 23-kill match at Immaculata University on the road in another five-setter. He completed the double-double with 10 digs. He tallied another double-double at home against Pratt with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Wilson College senior Demetrius Simmons was named the United East Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after he picked up nine blocks in two matches.
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's third United East Men's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season. This is the second United East weekly honor for Bippus in his volleyball career.
