Gallaudet’s Walter Douglas named United East Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. - The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Feb. 10 and Gallaudet University's senior jumper Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla) was named Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Douglas broke his own indoor school record in the long jump event last Saturday at the Frank Colden Invitational at Floy Lewis Bakes Fieldhouse on the Ursinus College campus. Douglas leaped 6.78 meters (22 feet, 3 inches) on his sixth and final jump to finish second overall in the event. Douglas' previous school record mark was 6.68 meters (21 feet, 11 inches) set back on Feb. 25, 2025, at the Joe LaRocco Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.

St. Mary's (Md.) junior Jake Robey was selected as the Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week after broke the four-year old 800m run school record, clocking a personal record of 2:01.83 (first in conference) for 20th overall at the Scarlet Knights Open hosted by Rutgers University. 

GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's first United East Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor this season and Douglas' third career conference weekly award.  Also see:
