WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's triathlon program is set to embark on the second year of its existence and the Bison roll deep into the 2025 season. GU returns two experienced triathletes and welcome six new members to the squad.
Last season, Gallaudet finished eighth overall among Division III teams at the 2024 Women's Collegiate National Championships. While the Bison graduated its top triathlete, the foundation is building for continued success for the buff and blue this season and beyond.

2024 Review
Highlight: Gallaudet in its first season, finished eighth overall among Division III teams at the 2024 Women's Collegiate National Championships at Lake Louisa State Park.
TOP RETURNERS
Ashley Corcoran (Broussard, La.), So.
Corcoran steadily improved throughout the 2024 season. This past spring, Corcoran was the second Bison to complete the Rumpus in Bumpass Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:52.57. Corcoran kept in shape over the summer as the sophomore completed a Half Ironman at the Eagleman 70.3 with a time of seven hours, 34 minutes and 17 seconds. The race consisted of a 1.2 mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run (half marathon).
Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.), So.
Miller was a member of Gallaudet's first women's triathlon team and faired well during the 2024 season. Miller participated in four events last season and looks to be a leader with Corcoran on the team in 2025.
KEY LOSSES
Kathe Wilken-Yoder (Oviedo, Fla.)
Wilken-Yoder was Gallaudet's top triathlete last year as she finished 152nd at the 2024 Women's Collegiate National Championship with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 37 seconds. Wilken-Yoder consistently was Gallaudet's first triathlete to finish the various meets during the inaugural season of the program.
QUOTING COACH
"We are coming off a strong season and it's exciting to see the energy this new group brings. With two returners leading the way and six new athletes from a range of athletic backgrounds, the team has hit the ground running. They've spent the past putting in the work to build critical skills this season. We're focused on building a solid foundation and continuing to grow together as a team. Our most experienced triathlete,
Ashley Corcoran, has shown outstanding leadership both on and off the course. It's been great to see our first-year athletes stepping up as well—
Adelle Patton brings strength in the water,
Jasmine Jimenez Lara shows real power on the bike, and
Marcella Schular is already a smooth and efficient runner. I'm excited to build on each of their strengths and watch them develop into well-rounded triathletes." -
Brian Bennett, Gallaudet University women's triathlon coach
