INDIANAPOLIS – Gallaudet University Senior Woman Administrator and Women's Basketball Coach
Stephanie Stevens has been named to the NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact.
The NCAA formed the Association-wide Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact by consolidating four groups – the Committee on Women's Athletics, Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity, and the Gender Equity Task Force – into a single entity aimed at improving efficiency and maximizing impact. This restructure stems from a recommendation made in August 2024 by the NCAA DEI Committees Review Working Group and aligns with the Board of Governors' broader 2022 review of Association-wide committees.
The new NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact will focus on creating equitable and inclusive experiences for student-athletes at championships and across college sports, advising on related NCAA policies and supporting increased participation and leadership opportunities for student-athletes from underrepresented communities. The committee is set to begin meeting this fall.
This is Stevens' second NCAA committee as she served on the NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee from 2018-22.
In addition to the NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact, Stevens was recently named to the NCAA Division III Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Subcommittee as well as the Selection Committee for the Student Immersion Program.
Stevens, who enters her 13th leading the Gallaudet women's basketball program, also served on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Diversity and Inclusion Committee from 2016-20.
