Davis wins the shot put on second day of United East Outdoor Track and Field Championships as Bison finish sixth

WASHINGTON - The 2025 United East Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded here Sunday at Thomas O. Berg Track on the campus of Gallaudet University. The weather held for the majority of the competition as only a few showers passed through the nation's capital on a cool and overcast day.

Gallaudet women's team finished sixth out of 10 teams with 18 points. St. Mary's College of Maryland captured its first United East women's outdoor track and field championship with 225 team points.Cedar Crest College was the runner-up with 134 points followed by Lancaster Bible in third place (102), Carlow University in fourth (93) and Penn State Harrisburg finished fifth (76). GU was sixth in front of Penn St.-Abington, who placed seventh (13) followed by Saint Elizabeth University (12), Notre Dame of Maryland University (five) and University of Valley Forge (two) rounds out the standings of the two-day championship.

GU senior Midajah Davis (Roanoke, Va.) won the shot put event with a top toss of 11.15 meters (36 feet, seven inches) to take home the gold medal. That was her best toss this season. This was Davis' first United East outdoor conference championship title in the shot put. Davis finished 10th in the hammer as her first toss of 28.93 meters (94 feet, 11 inches) was her top mark.

First year Joy Watkins (Hockley, Texas) participated in the 800-meter run and finished seventh overall with a personal record time of two minutes and 50.84 seconds. Watkins placed eighth in the 1,500-meter run with a career best time of 5:57.08.

Sophomore Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) placed seventh overall in the 5,000-meter run as she crossed the finish line with a time of 24:22.55.

First year Sara Duncan (Mesa, Ariz.) placed 25th overall in the shot put with a top toss of 5.12 meters, a new personal best.

St. Mary's freshman Rocksann Smith was named Field Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year and head coach Reava Potter was picked as Coach of the Year. Carlow graduate student Molly Wagner was selected as the Track Athlete of the Year.

Carlow junior Ella Cloak took home the Elite 20, awarded to the student-athlete with the highest grade point average that competed this weekend.
