WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet men's swimming team of eight competed against conference opponent Immaculata University in a dual meet this Saturday. Despite pushing, paddling, and kicking hard for their last home meet of the 2024-2025 season, the Bison (0-9) finished with a loss to Immaculata (3-5), 85-61.
Starting off strong, the 200-yard medley relay team consisting of junior
Abdullah Alghamdi (Dammam, Saudi Arabia), first year
Josh Rodriguez (Tampa, Fla.), first year
Sean Berry (St. Augustine, Fla.), and first year
Miguel Pavao (Frederick, Md) earned the Bison their first gold medal finish of the competition (2:28.68).
Soon after the first golden finish came a second and third. In both their first year's on the Gallaudet swim team,
Eric Samouski (Rahway, N.J.) and
Driss Oukake (Holland, Netherlands) contributed first-place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke (1:22.99) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.27), respectively.
The team did not stop there, continuing to increase their overall score with multiple swimmers achieving silver and bronze finishes, as well.
Following the medley relay and securing a silver medal finish for his team, Berry completed the 200-yard freestyle in 2:39.35. Following close behind was first year teammate
Alex Wilding (Santa Fe, N.M.) in third place (2:50.26). In the 200-yard IM, Wilding then went on to contribute his own second-place finish to the team's final score with a time of 3:19.07 and another in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:32.00). First year
Allen Davis (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) completed the 500-yard freestyle in second place (9:34.96), contributing yet another silver medal for the bison. Alghamdi gained the team points for third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.32).
In the final race of the day, a team of Samouski, Pavao, Davis, and Alghamdi rang in the meet with the last second-place finish, completing the 200-yard free relay in 2:56.30.
Immaculata won 8 of the 11 events.

- Davis placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (31.85).
- Oukake placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (37.41) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:26.43).
- Sarnouski placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle (39.73).
- Berry placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:09.51)
