NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the women's outdoor track and field All-America honorees for NCAA Division III this season and Gallaudet University first-year sprinter Oceana Brown (Miami, Fla.) picked up her first All-America honor with a spot on the first team.
Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., took home First Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay earned Second Team All-America. This is the first year with second team honors.
Brown finished fifth overall in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.35 seconds last Saturday night at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Brown becomes Gallaudet's first track and field athlete to earn All-American honors in their first-year. Brown is the first Gallaudet women's outdoor track and field All-American since Betsy Bachtel earned two honors (3,000- and 5,000-meter runs) at the 1986 championships. Senior teammate Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) earned a spot on the All-America Second Team (high jump) at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this season.
On the men's side, Eric Gregory (Metairie, La.) picked up three more All-American honors (two First Team, one Second Team) to increase his career total to eight (indoor and outdoor combined).
