LATHAM, N.Y. – The United East Conference announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Dec. 18 and Gallaudet University junior forward
Blessed Mbogo (Silver Spring, Md.) was named Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week for the Volt Division.
Mbogo scored a game-high 30 points last Monday on the road against Longwood University (Division I) in a 92-61 loss for the Bison. Mbogo made 10 of 24 shots from the floor, including six 3-pointers as GU led early on against the Lancers. Mbogo added four steals, three rebounds and one assist in 38 minutes played. Currently, Mbogo is 6th in the United East with 18.5 points per game, 13th in rebounds per game (7.2 rpg), 2nd in 3-point field goals per game (2.5 per game) and 2nd in total 3-pointers made (33). Defensively, Mbogo is 2nd in the United East in both steals (32) and steals per game (2.5 spg).
GU HONORS
This is Gallaudet's first United East Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors this season. This is Mbogo's first United East Player of the Week award in his career.
