Bison take down Penn St. Harrisburg on the road, 91-83

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team made it a clean sweep here Wednesday night as the Bison defeated Penn St. Harrisburg, 91-83, in an important North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) South Division game. Gallaudet (8-13, 6-6 NEAC) outscored Penn St. Harrisburg (10-11, 8-4 NEAC) in three of the four quarters as the Bison tallied 23 points in three straight quarters en route to victory.

The win caps a sweep for Gallaudet as the men's basketball team upset the Lions, 67-62, in the first game of the doubleheader.

GU led 22-20 after the first quarter and took a 45-44 lead into halftime. The 91 points scored is a season-high for the Bison.

Freshman forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) led all-scorers with 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) tallied a career-high 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Junior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) added 16 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals. Junior guard Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) was the fourth Bison in double figures with 11 points, seven reboundsm three assists and three steals. 

Penn St. Harrisburg was led by Kendis Butler's 22-point game while Madison Hemler recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  

BISON TRACKS

  • Freshman Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) scored nine points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal
  • GU got eight points from its bench as freshmen Serenity Fry (East Los Angeles, Calif.) and Ariel Senics (Fishers, Ind.) scored four points each
  • Gallaudet held a 35-34 edge in rebounds 
  • The Bison scored 38 points in the paint
  • GU tallied 28 points off 20 turnovers made by the Lions
