WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team won an exciting match-up, 66-54, against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe Penn St.-Abington here Wednesday night. The victory moves Gallaudet (8-6, 7-3 NEAC) up a spot in the NEAC South Divison standings to third place and sweeps the season series with Penn St.-Abington (10-3, 6-3 NEAC).

The back-and-forth game was decided in the fourth quarter when Gallaudet went on a 13-0 run to swing the game its favor. Penn St.-Abington took a two-point lead, 49-47, at the 7:33 mark but back-to-back steals and baskets by sophomore Kori Koss (Green Bay, Wis.), in 16 seconds, provided the spark the Bison needed. In three minutes Gallaudet erased the deficit and led 60-49 with 3:47 left in regulation.

There were 13 lead changes and seven ties during the game before GU closed out the final six minutes of the fourth quarter with the lead. The Bison outscored the Nittany Lions 21-9 in the quarter with 15 points coming off turnovers.

The two teams played an even first half where GU led 18-16 after the first quarter and took a 37-33 edge into halftime. The game was knotted at 45 after the completion of the third quarter.

Senior guard Zamica Gage (Washington, D.C.) led the Bison with 28 points, eight steals, eight rebounds and five assists. Gage was responsible for three lead changes. Senior guard Danielle Warren (San Jose, Calif.) added 12 points for the Bison along with five rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) played strong in the post, leading the team in rebounds (10) and had four blocks. Sophomore forward Kelsey Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) was also hot under the net with nine rebounds and six points. Sophomore guard Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) scored nine points, three rebounds and made three steals to round out GU's starting five. Koss had six points and six steals off the bench.

Freshman guard Shayna Rodriguez led the Nittany Lions with 22 points and junior center Madison Kimball pulled down 12 rebounds for the Nittany Lions.
