Keuka hands Gallaudet first NEAC loss, Bison turnaround and sweep SUNY Cobleskill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

READING, Pa. - In a highly anticipated North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match between Gallaudet University and Keuka College on Sunday it was the Wolfpack who handed the Bison their first conference loss. Keuka won in straight sets 25-18, 25-19, 25-23 as Gallaudet was forced to play without two of its starters. The Bison bounced back with a straight set win, 25-9, 25-15, 25-12, over SUNY Cobleskill in the afternoon to wrap-up the NEAC Crossover Weekend hosted by Penn St.-Berks.

Gallaudet (18-11, 11-1 NEAC) struggled against Keuka (23-7, 9-1 NEAC) as the buff and blue committed 19 attack errors and three service errors while the Wolfpack served up seven aces. The Bison were without the services of senior outside hitter Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) and freshman libero Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.). The loss snaps an eight-match winning streak for the Bison and ends a NEAC win streak of 17 consecutive regular-season matches dating back to Sept. 22, 2013, when Keuka defeated the Bison, 3-1.

Senior middle hitter Julia Wolff (Belleville, Ontario) picked up the slack in the absence of Frowick as she tallied 12 kills, eight digs, five block (three solos) and five service aces in Sunday's two conference matches. Junior Molly Perkins (Apple Valley, Minn.) added 19 kills, 10 digs and two service aces while fellow junior TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 56 assists. Junior Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) led the team in digs with 27 (21 against Keuka) and spiked home 12 kills. Sophomore Giuletta Maucere (Frederick, Md.) chipped in 12 kills and junior Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) made 11 of her 19 digs in the first match as she filled in for Thomas at libero.

The Bison still have a chance to earn the top-seed in the upcoming NEAC tournament but it will depend on what happens to the Wolfpack in their final two conference games in the next two weeks.

Gallaudet returns home to prepare for St. Mary's (Md.) College, who will come to the Field House on Friday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.
