Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – For the second weekend in a row the Gallaudet University women's volleyball team went 3-1 at a two-day tournament. This time the Bison competed at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College and lost for a second consecutive week to No. 22 Salisbury University in straight sets (25-17, 25-14, 25-17) and bounced back with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-15) win over the host Mules.
Senior Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) and junior Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) were named to the all-tournament team for the Bison. Peters recorded 46 kills and 33 digs to go with four service aces, one block solo and seven block assists in four matches. She made a season-high 15 kills against Moravian on Friday night. Frowick tallied 49 kills and 51 digs coupled with four service aces and one block solo during the tournament. She tied her season best total for kills (18) for the third time this season in the win over Moravian. For the second straight week she had nine kills in a loss against Salisbury.
"Kali and Lane showed great patience this weekend as they continue to build their chemistry with our new setters," said Gallaudet coach Lynn Ray Boren. "They both made a lot of great shots in the last two days."
Sophomore libero Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) led the team with 22 digs in the loss against the Sea Gulls (8-0).
In the victory over Muhlenberg it was Peters leading the way with 13 kills, 10 digs, three service aces and three block assists while Frowick added 12 kills, 13 digs and two service aces. Freshman setter Tarja Lewis (Frederick, Md.) passed out 19 assists and made seven digs and two service aces. Sophomore setter TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) added 15 assists in the win.
Gallaudet will host an exhibition match against its alumni on Friday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. in the Field House before the Bison have their first home match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 19, against University of Mary Washington at 7 p.m.
