Box Score 2 ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team got off to a great start Friday evening at the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. The Bison defeated FDU-Florham and Moravian College in straight sets, 3-0, to advance out of Pool C to Pool AA to face two other teams that were perfect on the first day of the two-day tournament.
Gallaudet (5-1) will have rematch with No. 22 Salisbury University at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7, followed by a 2 p.m. match with the host Mules from Muhlenberg. The lone Bison loss this season came against the Sea Gulls, 3-0, to start the season last week in Gettysburg, Pa. Since the loss the Bison have won five straight matches and the last three have been straight set victories.
In the first match on Friday against FDU-Florham (2-5) the Bison won 25-18, 25-23 and 25-13. Junior outside hitter
Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) led the Bison with 10 kills and 23 digs. Senior
Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) added nine kills and nine digs while freshman
Giuletta Maucere (Frederick, Md.) chipped in eight kills and one block solo and two block assists. Sophomore libero
Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) recorded 21 digs in the win.
GU defeated Moravian (3-3), 25-22, 25-19, 26-24, as the Bison were pushed throughout the match. Frowick led the team with 18 kills while Peters tallied 15 kills and eight digs. Freshman setter
Tarja Lewis (Frederick, Md.) and sophomore setter
TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 16 assists each. Fetzer led the team with 24 digs and three service aces while Maucere made one block solo and three block assists.
