ABINGTON, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball had another lead slip away on Sunday as the Bison lost a heartbreaking 67-65 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game to the hands of Penn St.-Abington on the road.

Gallaudet (5-18, 3-13 NEAC South) controlled the game until the final minutes as the Nittany Lions erased an 11-point second half lead by the Bison.

Senior forward Lindsay Stergio (Montville, Conn.) made a layup and was fouled with 30 seconds left in regulation. She converted the free throw opportunity to tie the game at 65.

Penn St.-Abington (9-13, 7-8 NEAC South) brought the ball up the court and used the clock before Jaclyn Vandiver (25 points, 13 rebounds) scored the game-winning basket with five seconds left on the clock.

GU called a timeout and on the last second sophomore Claire Tucker (Middletown, Md.) got off a three-point attempt but it did not connect. Tucker finished the game with 18 points, three rebounds and three assists. Stergio had 15 points, 13 rebounds and five assists while sophomore Alexa Justus (Forks, Wash.) netted 12 points.

Vandiver led the Nittany Lions with her 25 points and 13 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks. Guard Trish Watson scored 18 points and Janay Winston added 14 points and six rebounds.

Gallaudet led 35-26 at halftime as the Bison made 50 percent of their shots.

The Bison return home this week to close out the season. GU will host Wilson College (2-17, 0-15 NEAC South) on Wednesday, Feb. 13, for a 7 p.m. conference game. The Bison will celebrate WBCA's Play 4Kay Pink Day, all fans are encouraged to wear something pink to show their support.
