COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Gallaudet
University men's swimming team dropped its double dual meet
Saturday on the road at SUNY Cobleskill. The Bison lost 65-34 to
Wells College and 78-18 to host Cobleskill in the North Eastern
Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener for the Bison (0-6, 0-2
NEAC).
Junior Tony Dall (Indianapolis, Ind.)
was the top swimmer for the buff and blue as he won the 50-yard
freestyle and placed third in the 100 freestyle. In the 50 free,
Dall turned in a blistering time of 27.68, outpacing his nearest
competitors by more than a second and a half. In the 100 free, Dall
positioned himself well, completing the first half in 29.97
seconds. However, he was unable to improve his positioning down the
stretch, as the final 50 yards took 35.38 seconds to complete
(1:05.25). Cobleskill's James Bercier won the event with a
time of 54.55 seconds.
Sophomore Myles Goldberg (Frederick, Md.)
had a fourth-place finish for the Bison in the 100 breaststroke. He
finished the event in 1:22.79 seconds and was just 2.66 seconds off
the lead after the first 50 yards.
Senior Jarvis Grindstaff (Frederick, Md.),
sophomore Timothy Skaggs (Columbus, Ohio), junior
Michael Schmitz (Oxford, Miss.) and sophomore
Bernardo Toledo (Puerto Rico) swam to a
second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of
2:11.66 seconds. Cobleskill won the event with a time of 1:48.25
seconds.
In the other head-to-head scoring, Cobleskill narrowly edged
Wells, 51-49.
Gallaudet's next competition is a double dual meet at York
(Pa.) College against the host Spartans and Penn St.-Altoona on
Friday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m.
