Box Score 2 ABINGTON, Pa. – For the first time since Gallaudet University joined the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) three years ago the Bison will host the women's volleyball conference tournament. GU, two-time defending NEAC champions, clinched the top spot with two conference wins Saturday at Penn St.-Abington.
Gallaudet (25-6, 10-0 NEAC) swept Cazenovia College and Keuka College in straight sets. GU breezed through its contest with Cazenovia, 25-7, 25-10, 25-12, before the Bison dispatched Keuka 25-20, 26-24, 25-16.
Senior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bison with 12 kills, four service aces, four digs and two block solos against Cazenovia. Junior Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) had 11 kills and sophomore setter Sarah Tubert (Burbank, Calif.) added 32 assists.
Senior middle hitter Jessica Israel (Frederick, Md.) threw down 15 kills in the straight set win over Keuka (19-7, 7-2 NEAC). Whited led the Bison with 14 digs while Tubert passed out 35 assists.
GU officially wraps up the NEAC regular-season schedule tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 21) with a neutral site contest against SUNY Cobleskill at 10 a.m.
The NEAC women's volleyball tournament will run from Nov. 2-3 at Gallaudet University. Teams and times will be announced once the regular-season is complete.
