Box Score 2 WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Gallaudet University softball team showed some rust on Tuesday against McDaniel College in a non-conference doubleheader on the road. The host Green Terror struck fear into the Bison as they won 9-0 in five innings and 11-4 in seven innings as Gallaudet has dropped five straight. This was Gallaudet's first game since a home doubleheader back on March 9.
Gallaudet (1-7) was only down 4-0 to McDaniel (5-9) in the first game before the Green Terror plated five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to halt the game at 9-0 in favor of the host. The Bison scored first in the second game but McDaniel scored at least a run in every inning but the fourth en route to the 11-4 victory.
Sophomore Michelin Barron (Frederick, Md.) had the big two-run double in the second game as the Bison scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning. GU only trailed 6-4 to McDaniel heading into the bottom of the sixth where the Green Terror erupted for five runs.
In the first game the Bison only had two hits and the first hit of the game for the Buff and Blue didn't happen until the top of the fifth inning. McDaniel pitcher Ashley Meister pitched a gem for the home team as she went the distance and struck out six Bison and walked two.
McDaniel won at home for the first time in two years as the Green Terror were winless at home last season. The victories snap a 12-game home losing streak.
GU will look to snap the losing streak on Saturday, March 26, when the Bison hit the road for the first time in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). GU will face Penn St.-Abington in a twin bill that begins at 1 p.m.
