Box Score DOVER, Del. - The Gallaudet University men's
basketball team went into halftime of Saturday's Capital Athletic
Conference game against third-place Wesley College only down 12 on
the road. The Bison had just posted their worst first half of the
season (14 points) but were still in the game. Wesley used a strong
second half to down Gallaudet 81-46. The loss is the 10th straight
for the Bison (4-15, 0-13 CAC) while the Wolverines (14-6, 8-4 CAC)
have won seven in a row.
GU sophomore Tony Tatum (Birmingham, Ala.)
scored nine of his team-high 11 points in the second half. Freshman
forward Danny Kelly (Strongsville, Ohio) netted 10
points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the loss.
Wesley had four players in double figures as the Wolverines
scored 44 points in the paint and 19 off fast breaks. They also
received 38 points from the bench as 11 different players scored at
least two points. Paul Reynolds led the way for the Wolverines with
19 points and seven rebounds.
Gallaudet cut Wesley's lead to 10 on two free throws made by
junior Bobby Siebert (St. Paul, Minn.) with a
minute left before the break. The Wolverines led 26-14 at the half.
Wesley outscored Gallaudet 55-32 in the second half.
GU shot 19.2 percent from the field in the first half where the
Bison only made five shots. The Buff and Blue improved in the
second half with a 41.4 percent showing which included five
three-pointers. Freshman Jocus Houston (Baton
Rouge, La.) had a nice game off the bench for the Bison as he
recorded seven points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals
in 18 minutes of action.
Wesley swept the season series with Gallaudet as the Wolverines
won 79-55 back on January 20.
Gallaudet will next host University of Mary Washington (8-12,
5-7 CAC) on Monday, February 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Field House.
This is a make-up game from Saturday, January 30, which was
postponed due to snow.
