STEVENSON, Md. - The Gallaudet University
volleyball team remained perfect in the Capital Athletic Conference
on Tuesday night as the Bison came away with a 3-1 victory over
Stevenson University on the road at Student Union Gymnasium. GU
dropped the first set 23-25 before the Buff and Blue rattled off
three straight set wins 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 to win their second
conference game this season.
Senior Justine Jeter (Noblesville, Ind.), the
reigning CAC Player of the Week, had a game-high 21 kills and 15
digs. The double-double is the fourth for Jeter this season.
Gallaudet (8-6, 2-0 CAC) has won four straight matches, six of
the past eight, after a sluggish 0-4 start to the season.
Senior Amanda Krieger (Carmel, Ind.) added 16
kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double this season. Jeter
and Krieger combined to knock home 37 out of the 56 team kills.
Senior Shana Lehmann (Frederick, Md.) made a
team-high 27 digs while freshman Ann Whited
(Fishers, Ind.) added 21 digs and six kills. Sophomore
Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, Texas) passed
out 48 assists in the win.
Stevenson (7-8, 1-2 CAC) was lead by junior Alex Mercer's 15
kills and five blocks and freshman Avery Gabbard's nine kills. The
Mustangs had five players recorded 10 or more digs led by Alexa
Carney and Amy Rudolph who made 18 digs apiece.
Gallaudet will next host University of Mary Washington on
Thursday, October 1, at 7 p.m. in the Field House. It is "Dig Pink"
night for the Bison. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the
game. Donations from the game will be sent to the Side-Out
Foundation to raise funds and awareness in the fight against Breast
