YORK, Pa. - The Gallaudet University volleyball
team made quick work of its Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) match
on Wednesday evening as the Bison rolled to a 3-0 victory over host
York (Pa.) College. The shutout is the seventh this season for the
Bison as GU moves into third-place in the conference.
Gallaudet (12-8, 3-1 CAC) jumped out early on York (10-7, 2-3
CAC) and took the first set 25-19. The second set was the most
competitive as GU edged out the Spartans by two points, 25-23. The
final set was all Gallaudet as the Buff and Blue scored the set's
first six points and never looked back en route to the 25-18 third
set win. GU has won 11 of its past 14 matches.
Senior Amanda Krieger (Carmel, Ind.) led the
Bison with 12 kills (.429 percentage) and added five digs and two
service aces. Fellow senior Justine Jeter
(Noblesville, Ind.) added 11 kills and six digs while senior
Shana Lehmann (Frederick, Md.) contributed 19
digs. Sophomore Paige Johnson (North Richland
Hills, Texas) made a game-high 31 assists. Freshman Ann
Whited (Fishers, Ind.) added seven kills and five digs to
go with one block solo.
The Bison return home ready to host the Worthington Classic at
the GU Field House this weekend. The invitational begins on Friday
afternoon. Gallaudet will take on Dallas and Rochester Institute of
Technology on Friday, October 9. The Dallas match is slated for 1
p.m. with the R.I.T. match in the evening at 7 p.m.
