Once again Gallaudet got off to a strong start, leading Wesley
College 20-17, 11 minutes into the first half after Sekoe White hit a jumper
and made the free throw, after he was fouled. Wesley then
went on a 8-0 run and never relinquished the lead, even though
Gallaudet closed it to 2 with 2 and a half minutes left on a three
pointer by Johnny Jackson, Jr.
The final score was 94-74.
Wesley went on a 12-3 run to end the first half, then started
the second half with a 23-10 run to go up by 24 and Gallaudet was
never able to make a game of it after that. Costly turnovers were a
factor in the loss today.
White had a nice all-around game for the Bison today, scoring 19
points on 6-11 shooting, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 5
assists and getting 3 steals. Tony Tatum also scored 19
points on 9-16 shooting. Jackson scored 17 points by going 6-9 from
the floor, including 2 3-pointers and he also grabbed 6 rebounds
and made 2 steals.
Jeremy
Thrush came off the bench to score 6 points and grab 5
rebounds.
As a team, Gallaudet was 28-57 from the field, making 49% of
their shots. The defense forced 20 turnovers. Free-throw shooting
and offensive turnovers were costly for the Bison. They shot
just 11-26 from the line.
Next week, Gallaudet doesn't have any games, because it's final
exam week, and Head Coach Jeb
Barber wants his players to focus on their academics, during
this important week. Following finals week, Gallaudet will travel
to Knoxville, Tennessee where they will face Johnson Bible College
on December 15.
Gallaudet is now 4-2 on the season and 0-2 in the Capital Athletic
Conference.
