Five Players scored in double figures tonight, led by Tony Tatum with 18, to
lead Gallaudet to a 103-74 win over Johnson Bible College in
Tennessee.
The game was the a semi-home game for several Bison players
including Tatum and Johnny Jackson,
Jr., who are from nearby Alabama, Jon Mowl from Indiana, and
Sekoe White from
Kentucky. All four excelled tonight. Jackson scored 14 points
and had 3 assists. Mowl had 13 points and 4 steals.
White added 12 points and 5 steals. Jeremy Thrush also had
a big game, scoring 17 points and grabbing 5 rebounds.
Tatum scored all 18 of his points in the first half, including a
crowd pleasing dunk. Johnson Bible focused on stopping him in the
second half and did not allow him many opportunities to shoot,
which led to his teammates getting easy baskets. This was fine with
Head Coach Jeb
Barber. After the game he said, "It was truly a team
effort. I am very proud of our team."
The game concluded a wonderful weekend for the Men's and Momen's
Gallaudet basketball teams, which included an alumni event at the
Knoxville Center for the Deaf Sunday night, as well as both teams
practicing and signing autographs at the Tennessee School for the
Deaf.
Coach Barber praised the fans who give his team lots of support
during the weekend. "The fan support from the areas in and
around Tennessee was fantastic. We are truly blessed to have
that kind of support for our games. We want to thank the Knoxville
Center for the Deaf, as well as the Tennessee School for the Deaf
for their hospitality."
With the win, Gallaudet is 5-2 on the season, and snaps a two
