WASHINGTON, DC—Gallaudet faced the #2 team in the CAC at
the Field House tonight, with the Mary Washington Eagles
prevailing, 81-66.
The Bison jumped ahead to an early lead and stayed in front for
the first 8 minutes until the Eagle three-point shooters rallied to
take the lead, 20-19. Mary Washington converted their scoring
opportunities and built a 11-point lead into the half, 45-34.
Guards Jon Mowl and Chi Ming Pun combined for 20 points in the
first half, scoring 10 apiece. Eagle Matt Hale had 15 points off
5-for-6 three-point shooting.
Gallaudet had a strong opening run in the second half going on a
run to bring the gap within three (47-44). Mary Washington took
their size and perimeter shooting to re-build the lead 60-47 at the
9:56 mark.
The Buff and Blue could not break the 11-point cushion that Mary
Washington built as time expired despite hard work and a
never-say-die attitude.
Mowl finished with a team-high 18 points. Chi Ming Pun and Onye
Davis added 13 and 11, with Davis also having a game-high 7
assists. Freshman Dan Fava had a game-high 8 rebounds. Mary
Washington's Matt Hale had 18 points, with Justin Baker and
Brandon Altmann adding 15 and 12 each.
The Bison (1-11, 1-4 CAC) take on the visiting Salisbury Sea Gulls
on Saturday January 12. Tip time is set for 4 at the Field House.
Guard Chi Ming Pun goes for a basket against Mary Washington.
