WASHINGTON, DC - The fourteenth ranked University
of Mary Washington women's basketball team kept homestanding
Gallaudet University to nine field goals in a 75-24 victory over
the Bison on Thursday night in Capital Athletic Conference play.
Eagle Brooke Davies scored a career-high 13 points to lead UMW, who
recorded its 20th win of the season, marking the third straight
year the Eagles have won 20 games.The Eagles led, 33-10, at
halftime. Davies made four of five field goals, including all three
of her three point attempts, and connected on both of her free
throw attempts. Lisa Tracy scored 12 points for the Eagles, and
Leigh Kampman was the third UMW player in double figures with
10 points and collected a team-high eight rebounds. Liz Hickey had
nine points, seven blocked shots, and six rebounds, and Ashton
Mitchell added nine points and seven rebounds.Tamara Foronda and
Brittany Payne each scored six points to lead Gallaudet, and
Jessica Salisbury grabbed eight rebounds for the Bison.UMW shot 41%
from the floor for the game, while holding Gallaudet to 22%.
Gallaudet (3-18, 0-11 CAC) travels to St.
Mary's College of Maryland (8-11, 3-7 CAC) on Saturday,
February 10 in the penultimate regular season game of the season
before the CAC Tournament. The ball goes up at 2:00 p.m.
