It's Workin'!

Washington, DC (11/25/06)—The Bison earned their first win on the year against the Bloodhounds in a strong 77-52 finish.  Sophomore Jon Mowl earned his All-Tournament selection, posting two-game total numbers of 34 points, 16 assists, 6 steals and 7 rebounds.  For today's game, Mowl had a double-double, 13 points, 10 assists.
Forward Steve Biskupiak paved the way on offense, posting 19 points, three blocks and one steal. Junior forward Sekoe White continued the scoring barrage with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals over 31 minutes of play.
Onye Davis continued his solid control of the paint, leading the team with 9 boards and fighting under the basket for 8 points.  Freshman Lance Gonzalez must have a good long-distance plan, because he was 2-for-2 from downtown for 6 points with 5 minutes of play off the bench.
The overall tournament championship went to North Carolina-Wesleyan Battling Bishops, with a close win over Southern Vermont.  The Mountaineers started a strong rally behind Senior Chris Matte's long-range shooting (5 treys, 20 points) and the fast work of freshman Albrey Kirkland (19 points).  However, the Bishops' strong offense eventually proved too much for the Mounties.  Bishop starting guard Lenny Hall had 23 points and 5 assists in the win, bolstered by 14 from big man Emmanuel Alston.  Sophomore Adam Coleman, standing 6'7 tall, put up 10 points along with Jarvis Cobb's 14 to round out the Bishops' leading scorers.
Tournament MVP honors went to Lenny Hall, with the remaining four spots on the All-Tournament team going to John Jay's Dustin Yeates, Southern Vermont's Chris Matte, NC-Wesleyan's Adam Coleman and Gallaudet's Jon Mowl.

The Bison travel to Hood College (Frederick, MD) for the CAC opener on Wednesday, November 29th at 7 p.m.
