Bison drop conference match at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team got swept, 3-0, on the road Tuesday night at Wilson College in a United East match in the Gannett Field House.

Gallaudet (5-14, 2-2 United East) stayed close to Wilson (10-7, 2-1 United East) in all three sets but the Bison fell to the Phoenix by the scores of 18-25, 20-25, 17-25.

Sophomore outside hitter Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.), the reigning United East Offensive Player of the Week, had a match-high 12 kills and added seven digs. Sophomore setter Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) passed out 26 assists and made a team best 11 digs to complete the double-double for the Bison.

GU had a rough evening from the service line with nine errors and only one ace and the Bison were limited to one block upfront against the Phoenix.

Wilson was paced by Jacob McCoy and Scotty Zorn as the duo had 10 kills each and Satvik Sharma tallied 41 assists and three aces in the win.

GU remains in conference play this Friday, March 13, with a road trip to Neumann University (2-9, 0-2 United East) for a 7 p.m. match.
