GU serves up 3-1 win over Hood in the Field House

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team picked up its third win of the 2026 season here Thursday night in the Field House with a 3-1 victory over Hood College in a non-conference match.

Gallaudet (3-6) came out of the gates strong with a quick 25-16 first-set win. Hood (1-7) responded with a 22-25 win in the second set before the Bison turned the tables in the third set by the same 25-22 score. GU closed out the match in the fourth set as the buff and blue scored five of the final six points to win, 25-18.

Sophomore outside hitter Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) led the way with a double-double that included a match high 14 kills and a team best 16 digs. Fellow sophomore outside hitter Kodi Lee (Lehi, Utah) tallied his own double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore setter Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) passed out 32 assists and made 12 digs for a double-double. Holcomb served up a match high four service aces as the Bison finished with seven. Up front, sophomore middle hitter Luke McBrine (Weymouth, Mass.) made five blocks while Bippus finished with four (one solo). First year Tahoe Herzig-Wilcox (Frederick, Md.) added three blocks (one solo) and sophomore libero Elian Zfati (Brooklyn, N.Y.) chipped in 12 digs.

Hood was led by Charles Casas' 13 digs and eight digs while Cameron Nugent tallied a double-double with 27 assists and 13 digs in the loss.

GU will rest this weekend before traveling to Glenside, Pa., next Tuesday, Feb. 17, to play a non-conference 7 p.m. match at Arcadia University (2-5).
