WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's basketball picked up a confidence-boost win Thursday night on Padden Court in the Field House as the Bison defeated Trinity Washington University, 68-30.
Gallaudet (4-13) opened the game on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes and capitalized on Trinity Washington's early foul trouble, forced six turnovers and built a strong 23-8 lead by the end of the first quarter.
The buff and blue extended their run to 28-0 from the first into the second quarter before the Tigers (0-11) finally broke the drought at the 3:42 mark. First-year forward/center
Natalie Greene (Fresno, Texas) led the charge with eight points in the second quarter. Trinity Washington struggled to respond as Gallaudet continued to dominate in the paint with 16 points. The Bison closed the first half with a comfortable 45-15 lead.
In the second half, Gallaudet rotated the entire roster into the game to keep minutes balanced. Despite Trinity Washington's seven steals after halftime, the Bison maintained their momentum, used up time and outscored the Tigers 23-15 to close out the game.
Greene finished the night with her fourth double-doubles of the season as she posted game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. First-year forward/center
Kayla Debrow (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds off the bench. Sophomore forward
Mackenzie Schirg (Factoryville, Pa.) added 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and passed out three assists. Senior guard
Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) delivered a well-balanced performance as she finished with six points, eight rebounds, six assists and two steals in 16 minutes played. Junior guard
Seanna Baird (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored six points, recorded four steals and two assists.
Trinity was paced by Shayonna Nave's 14 points and Z'niyah Moore's double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

- Junior forward Kate Aquino Uribe (Downey, Calif.) recorded career highs for rebounds (six) and blocks (two) and added five points off the bench
- Sophomore guard Hadassah Sklar (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed a career-high four rebounds in 13 minutes played off the bench
- Gallaudet's 67 total rebounds and 24 offensive rebounds were season-high marks
- GU's 31 field goals made were also a season's best
- The Bison had 22 bench points
