LANDOVER, Md. – The Gallaudet men's indoor track and field team returned to competition for the first meet of 2026 on Saturday at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic, hosted by the Catholic University of America, following a long break. The Bison competed at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex, the same venue that will host the United East Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 27.
Gallaudet placed 11th out of 16 teams with 12 points. Johns Hopkins University won the meet with 133 points followed by Bridgewater (Va.) College with 93 points.
Senior
Walter Douglas (Sanford, Fla.) finished third in the long jump with a top leap of 6.01 meters. Douglas also participated in the 60-meter dash prelims and placed 29th overall with a time of 7.53 seconds.
Junior thrower
Navar Harris (Charleston, W.Va.) placed third in the shot put event with a top throw of 13.33 meters (43 feet, 8.75 inches).
Junior thrower
Andrew Suarez (Fairview, Texas) placed 10th in the weight throw with a top toss of 11.81 meters (38 feet, 9 inches). Suarez also placed 21st in shot put with a top toss of 10.22 meters (33 feet, 6.50 inches).
First year
Jason Alford (Dayton, Ohio) ran in the 200-meter dash and placed 36th with a time of 26.02 and finished 39th place in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.83 seconds.
Sophomore
Joe Bryan (Liberty, Mo.) recorded his season-best time of 57.20 seconds in the 400-meter dash (18th overall). Bryan also participated in the 200-meter dash and finished 37th overall with a time of 26.22 seconds.
