Bison trio combine for 35 kills in sweep of Penn St.-Abington

WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team blanked Penn St.-Abington here Tuesday night with a straight set 3-0 win with a score of 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 between the two United East teams.

Gallaudet improved its record to 12-5 and 2-0 in conference play. The Bison win streak increased to six straight as they have won 12 consecutive sets in the process.

GU has 49 kills and recorded its second-highest team hitting percentage this season (.424). 

The buff and blue served up 10 aces and tonight's game was the 12th match of the season with at least 10 or more service aces in a match.

Gallaudet had three different players in double digits for kills. Junior middle hitter Jada Zarembka (Riverside, Calif.) led with a match-high 14 kills and added four blocks. Junior outside hitter Brielle Worley (Amarillo, Texas) tallied her ninth doubles-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs and chipped in two aces. Senior outside hitter Citrine Lummer (Frederick, Md.) was the third Bison with double digits for kills with 10. She added 16 digs which is her fifth double-double of the season. Senior middle hitter Candace Broadnax (Springfield, Va.) made seven kills with an impressive .875 hitting percentage with eight attempts. Senior setter Ella Gamble (Cullowhee, N.C.) passed out 41 assists in only three sets and served one ace.

The Nittany Lions (8-5, 1-1 United East) were led by Kayla Mason and Ellie Van Otten with four kills each while Ryenn Mamrosch passed out seven assists in the loss.
