SALISBURY, Md. - Gallaudet University women's cross country runners set personal record times here Saturday at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University at WinterPlace Park.
Sophomore
Ashley Morales-Juan (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and first year
Jala Furdge (Brandon, Miss.) posted personal record times on the 6K course. Morales-Juan returned from injury to finish 75th overall with a time of 32 minutes and 15.30 seconds. Morales-Juan's previous personal record time was 33:36.00 set on the same course a month ago. Furdge finished 84th with a personal record time of 39:15.00 as she shaved five minutes off her previous personal record time of 44:19.76.
Senior
Olivia Armstrong (Rotterdam, N.Y.) was the first Bison across the finish line in 72nd place with a time of 31:13.90 on a humid and overcast day on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The Bison did not receive a team score since they did not have five runners finish the race.
Salisbury University junior Anna Bodmer was the first runner out off 88 in the field to win the 6K race with a time of 21:39.90 on her home course. The U.S. Naval Academy, a Division I program, won the meet with a team score of 24 points. The Midshipmen had five runners in the top seven spot. The Captains from Christopher Newport University was second with 55 points. The host Sea Gulls checked in at third (67 points), Delaware State University was fourth (117) and The College of New Jersey was fifth (143).
